Building a Recruiting Profile

Your recruiting profile is your introduction to college coaches. It should be clear, accurate, and easy to review. The information is what matters, not how fancy the web page appears.

A strong profile includes:

  • Personal info (name, grad year, contact info)

  • Academic info (GPA, test scores, intended major)

  • Baseball info (positions, height/weight, metrics, stats)

  • Video links (skills and game footage)

  • Schedule and upcoming events

Clarity matters more than volume.

  • Coaches want verified information they can trust.

    • Get metrics from trusted sources. College camps and respected showcases are essential to use. College coaches want information from sources they trust and people with whom they can verify the information.

    • Avoid exaggerated metrics. When coaches attend your games and workouts, you need to be able to “live up to the hype”.

  • Have a clear and easy-to-read layout.

    • Be sure the information is clear and easy to read. College coaches get dozens of emails with profiles. They do not have time to search through a cluttered layout to find the information they need.

Keep your profile updated. Outdated schedules or incorrect stats signal a lack of attention to detail. This will turn off coaches quickly. The easier you make it for the coaches, the easier it is for them to see you play.

Action Step: Audit your current profile and update all academic and baseball information.
